Getting Off to A Good Start
Starting your classroom off right is very important. The first day of school sets the tone for the rest of the year. This step is crucial for any teacher no matter how many years they have been teaching.
Just a small list of things to do before the school year begins are:
1. Arrange your classroom in a comfortable way for you and your students so that it is accessible for everyone.
2. Make sure you are organized
3. Get to know your fellow staff members at the school
4. Make sure you have all needed supplies

A checklist for things to make sure you cover on the first day of school
I personally like the idea of sending out post cards to the students welcoming them to your class before they even arrive. This helps them to feel welcome and get them excited about being in your classroom for the year.
Giving the student a welcome bag like this one can help them to fell loved and welcome in your class.
Student information sheets are a great way to get to know your students! You can send these out either before school starts or on the first day of school!
Classroom scavenger hunts or having the students find other students with similar interests helps them build relationships with classmates and the teacher!
Make a social contract with your students. One that has expectations of the teacher and of the student. Display them in the room so they can see them all year long. No chances of forgetting then!
Make sure your expectations and rules are posted for your students to see them all the time.
